Wouldnt it be a great world if we all thought the same?
Wow!! Nothing like a controversial comment to get things going, right from the off! No. Of course it wouldnt be a great world if we all thought the same,it would be very banal, tedious, and dare I say it...boring! Compliance will only get you so far before you spit it out and tell it to sling its hook.
Example 1 - The workplace.
There may be a colleague that you might not have any time for,yet the person is revered amongst others. Not to a point that you are second guessing yourself going "Wait...is it ME thats the bollocks?"..You KNOW that he/she is a knob putting on an act. I knew of a fella (thank God I wasnt working directly with him) and a few others along with myself would see him just be a complete slimeball. Real snarky piece of work. Yet around the auld ladies, the blue rinse brigade, you'd think the sun shone out of his derriere. He could have been the advent for solar power and he wouldnt have even known it. I'm sure there are two (or even three) faced people like that everywhere.
Example 2 - Music
One that is always going to spark eternal debate, isnt it? "What music are ya into?" can be the difference maker in any chat with a potential friendship foundation,or *ahem* whatever youre having yourself. There might be a certain band you like or dont like, and straight away on telling you are a fan (or not), naturally one of two things will happen. You will either be enamoured or vilified in your response. I like Coldplay *ducks* but cant stand Aslan. Horses for courses, each to their own. Insert cliche here. People have their own opinions on music, you dont have to agree with them! My sister bought a cd by that yoke Nicki Minaj at the weekend. Baffling. We had words about that one,for sure. Well,I did. Her rebuttal was playing the "tracks" in the car for about twenty minutes. I'd have rathered to hear the deaths on the radio. It was THAT bad.
Example 3 - Film
Yet another one that will transcend views. "Ah that fillum was shiiit!" is something you might hear associated with somefilm what won x amount of Oscars but people hated because it was black or white or had subtitles or whatever. That film Donnie Darko? I-could-not-stand-it. I know its a case of leave your brain at the door and take it in and all that, but come on,a talking rabbit and a plane that goes into a house or something? I dont know. Now, you could say, "Okay,so how realisti is Terminator 2 or Aliens" and open up a whole new can of worms again.
So,opinions,like a nose,or an arsehole...everybodys got one!!
